The DF140a is highly recommended by Whaler owners.

What is the size of your garage? A trailered 17-foot boat has a LOA of 21-feet.

I never recommend installing anything that is recessed into the foamed cavity. It is inviting water ingress.

I used 4-AWG marine battery wire when moving my battery to the console of my 1987 Montauk 17 with a 1987 Yamaha 2-stroke and my current boat, details in my signature. 4-AWG is running closer to $2.15 to $3.35 per foot as of this post. Determine the weight differential between the current engine and the 115 hp motor and add it to the stern. Drive the boat around.
While I doubt [a Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE engine weight of 360-lbs] will be a problem; many owners installed Honda BF90 engines in the 2000's that weighed 379-lbs.

While I do not recall anyone running a 90-HP engine on an OUTRAGE 18, I would not dissuade you from doing that.
