Re: 1985 Montauk 17 Restored
Apologies for the one-year-late update [on the ultimate new boat canvas bought for the 17-foot restored hull that has been the topic of this thread]. I purchased a Mills Bimini Top. Now more than a year later, the Mills Bimini top has been great. I chose the version that stows in front of the bow ra...

Re: 1985 Montauk 17 Restored

Re: 1985 Montauk 17 Restored
Thanks for the tip. I will have to think it through a bit before I pull off the current decals.dtmackey wrote:When you decide to remove the decal, the best way is to use an eraser wheel
The hull is painted with AWLCRAFT; will the eraser wheel cause a problem?

Re: 1985 Montauk 17 Restored
[The two-tone blue-white color scheme is] certainly not a look I had ever seen before on a Whaler. The scheme has really grown on me, especially in person. When it got up to Massachusetts, the guys at the boat lift and marina where there are a lot of old Montauks, didn’t really mention the colors; t...

Re: 1985 Montauk 17 Restored
Good eyes. The logo seems to be both too small and too far back. Full disclosure: I had nothing to do with any of the modifications, colors, or rub rail choices. I just luckily stumbled upon the boat for sale the way it is. The boat just got up to Massachusetts last Friday, and before that I had onl...

1985 Montauk 17 Restored
I was lucky enough to find pretty much exactly what I was looking for: a restored 1985 Montauk 17 without an engine. image0.jpeg image1.jpeg image2.jpeg image3.jpeg image4.jpeg image5.jpeg image6.jpeg image7.jpeg We have owned an 1987 Outrage 22 since new, and I am familiar with Boston Whaler boats....

Re: Rib-side OUTRAGE Value
Well I was able to find a really nice restored classic Montauk 17 with no engine so I will have to start a new thread with the pics and questions! Jim, I have several general different category questions from Bimini top options to rigging/prop choices for a Honda BF90, is it best to just keep it all...

Re: Rib-side OUTRAGE Value
Thank you Jim, I had not really considered that the ride would be a concern, but obviously it makes quite a bit of sense given the flat-looking [hull] design that was eventually changed.
I guess I’m back to the hunt for a restored or restorable classic Montauk hull.
Appreciate your thoughts.--Steve

Rib-side OUTRAGE Value
What would a good rib-side Outrage hull be worth in Massachusetts?
