Source for Boston Whaler Decals

Postby Kovar » Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:07 pm

I need replacement Boston Whaler logo decals for port and starboard side of a1988 Sport 13. I see decals are available at Nauset Marine.

Q1: is NAUSET MARINE a good source for an OEM quality product?

Q2: what size is correct?

Q3: is decal removal with a heat gun and a plastic edge a good method?

Q4: what method is used to remove residue?

Someone recommended this [source redacted due to terrible imitation of original design] to me when I rehabbed my 1977 Sport 15.

The decals I ordered were the exact size of the old ones.

To remove the old decalsI used a combination of a heat gun with a plastic razor-type scraper. I cleaned the residue with some denatured alcohol. This method worked well.

I recommend Magic Brush. See their new telephone number and other information at:

Sorry, but the decal you show from that source is nothing like the original Boston Whaler design. It is actually one of the worst attempts I have seen at copying the original.

The decal looks awful. The typefaces are wrong; the shape of the hull is wrong; the proportions are wrong; the harpoon is wrong. Some of it may be due to the photograph being taken at a very odd angle. If you take another photo of the logo from a proper angle, it might appear better, but as shown in your illustration, there is no way that product can be recommended on this website.

NAUSET MARINE is one of the oldest Boston Whaler dealers--probably at this moment THE oldest Boston Whaler dealer--and is recognized as a great source of replacement parts.

In a recent telephone conversation with their parts department (Jason), they have all the OEM factory-provided decals for hull side logos, available in a variety of sizes and colors. They can also provide other small decals found on the cockpit.
