Is the Commercial Whaler division limited now to only Justice and Guardians models?

Brunswick shut down the Commercial Products Division several years ago.

The commercial and government market has shifted to aluminum.

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products was consolidated into the parent company Boston Whaler as of 1st February 2019. My understanding is the 210 and 240 Guardians and the 250 Justice are still available.

The Boston Whaler commercial boat division was once known as Boston Whaler Commercial and Government division, but later became Brunswick Commercial and Government Products. At one time there were more than just Boston Whaler models offered, as Brunswick collected a huge number of boat builders. Later, many of those boat builders were sold off or discontinued.

The best source about the current products available from Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (Brunswick CGP) is from that division itself. I would hardly expect that readers of a website like CONTINOUSWAVE could provide more reliable information about Brunswick CGP products and Brunswick CGP themselves could provide.

I recommend you contact Brunswick CGP or visit their website at

https://www.brunswickcgp.com/

or contact them by telephone or email to inquire about what models are available. The website has an imprimatur of copyright 2020, so I would assume the website is still in operation and is up to date.

Information about the Brunswick CGP GUARDIAN models is available at

https://www.brunswickcgp.com/boston-wha ... rdian.html

Information about the Brunswick CGP JUSTICE models is available at

https://www.brunswickcgp.com/boston-wha ... stice.html

The top page of the Brunswick CGP website notes:

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP), a division of the Brunswick Boat Group, recently celebrated the completion of production integration into Boston Whaler’s main campus, also located in Edgewater, FL. As part of this integration, BCGP’s product portfolio has been realigned, focusing on core Boston Whaler models.

The "About Us" page of the Brunswick CGP website gives some history of the operation:

In the early 1960s, Boston Whaler began producing government and military workboats. Some of the very first commercialized Boston Whaler boats were used in the Vietnam War. The demand for commercialized Boston Whaler boats continued to grow and in 1983, a dedicated business was established with the sole focus of producing boats for the commercial and government sector. In 2001 the business was incorporated, and the company became Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP).

Today, BCGP is recognized worldwide as one of the leading manufacturers of commercial and government watercraft. Headquartered in Edgewater, FL, and owned by the Brunswick Corporation......BCGP offers superior quality crafts to commercial and government agencies around the world, while providing unsurpassed customer service and support...

Again, if further information is needed, directly contacting Brunswick CGP is the best avenue to pursue.

The government market for boats for the United States Coast Guard has certainly shifted to boats with floatation collars and welded aluminum hulls. For examples of these boats, see prior discussions about USCG boat fleet purchases at

On a corollary topic, I suspect that sales of Brunswick CGP boats would very much be likely to include a Mercury engine. For many years the only four-stroke-power-cycle engine available from Mercury was the VERADO FOURSTROKE. The VERADO FOURSTROKE was a "propulsion system" engine which required its own specialized rigging, controls, instrumentation, steering, and batteries. For a government agency that would need to provide support for the engines on its boats, the VERADO FOURSTROKE may have represented an impediment to getting a Brunswick CGP boat.

Brunswick has developed new model MERCURY FOURSTROKE (not VERADO) V6 and V8 engines which,in comparison to the VERADO FOURSTROKE, are much less unique and much less specialized. Providing support for these non-VERADO engines on a Brunswick CGP boat may be easier, simpler, and less expensive for a government, state, or municipal agency to provide. This may make the purchase of a Brunswick CGP boat with a Mercury engine more attractive.

On another corollary topic, the relocation of Brunswick CGP to be at the Boston Whaler main plant in Edgewater is an interesting move. Boston Whaler has undergone a huge expansion of the Edgewater plant, including buying a much larger parcel of land just to the north of the existing plant. Production of recreational Boston Whaler boats is now at such a high volume that they just announced they would expand further into an abandoned SeaRay plant in Palm Coast to increase Boston Whaler production. This must have created some room at Edgewater for the CGP boat production to move back home.

In Canada the Coast Guard, RCMP, and Navy outboard-size oats here shifted to Rigid-hull Inflatable boat or RIBs in the last 20 years. Previously they were using Boston Whaler boat. I do not recall seeing any government or commercial Boston Whaler boats around here newer than our 1994 Outrage 25.

ASIDE: Coast Guard power on the RIBs has been twin E-TEC engines. What outboard engines the government will specify now is unknown. Our Outrage 25 fire department marine rescue boat is an ex-RCMP boat, and it had twin Johnson 150-HP engine when new and now has twin 2008 E-TEC engines.
