Q1: what is the proper diameter for the hole that a standard OEM Norman Pin mounts into?
BACKSTORY, I just purchased a 1970 16-footer whose Norman Pin is missing. I ordered a replacement from Specialty Marine. The existing hole in the hull is about 3/4-inch diameter. The Norman Pin supplied has a diameter of 3/8-inch
Q2: do any readers think that a prior owner enlarged the hole to 0.75 inches from 0.375-inches?
ASIDE: This this is my first boat.
[Moderator's note: two photographs have been deleted. It is not necessary to provide a photograph of a hole for readers to understand the diameter of the hole. Stating the actual diameter of the hole is far more informative than seeing a picture of the hole.]
Norman Pin Hole Diamter
Re: Norman Pin Hole Diamter
[To get good advice on the diameter of an OEM Norman Pin] check with the parts department of NAUSET MARINE, a Boston Whaler dealer that sells OEM products. This is their offering:

If the existing hole istoo large, tape off one side of the hole and pack the hole with thickened epoxy. Let cure; and then drill out.

Re: Norman Pin Hole Diamter
Thanks for the info. I called Nauset Marine; their Norman Pin has a 3/8-inch threaded shaft, which is the same size as the Norman Pin ordered. Looks like if I want the Norman Pin I will need to fill and re-drill [the hole to the proper diameter].
