2013 170 Montauk White All-round Pole Lamp Stuck

Postby MattDavis1987 » Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:19 pm

The white all-round lamp pole that's attached on the console (referred to as the anchor light in the manual) on my 2013 170 MONTAUK is stuck in place; is there a trick to pulling it out?

Or, do I just keep yanking harder?

The boat's never been taken out at night so I honestly don't think the pole has ever been inserted until I put it in a few days ago.

Thanks

The support pole for the white all-round navigation lamp is intended to be installed and removed as needed. If the pole seems reluctant to come out of the socket, try spraying some WD40 as a lubricant around the bottom of the pole and let it drip into the socket. WD40 is safe to use on electrical connectors, and on most plastics.

ADDED REMARK--If there is a rubber-to-rubber interface at the socket, use alcohol to help release the two. When rubber is wetted with alcohol the friction is reduced immediately and dramatically. And the alcohol will evaporate in a few moments.
