A Custom 15-footer

Postby Jscgaston » Sat Apr 13, 2024 9:03 am

I am working on customizing a 15-footer. See Figure 1 below.

I did all the work except painting the hull sides. I added the following features:
  • on-deck 20-gallon fuel tank
  • micro power pole
  • new anchor hatch
  • bench seat
  • removable swivel mount for trolling motor

BACK STORY

My brother and I have alway wanted a CENTER CONSOLE 15. While growing up, our family had a GLS 15--and make the mistake of selling it. Twenty years later and my brother and I could [not] shake the Boston Whaler bug. My brother bought the 15-footer (seen in Figure 1) and I began a conversion, which has been going on for more than two years.

That looks like a well thought out conversion to accommodate two anglers.

Q1: is the white all-round lamp seen on the engine cowling battery-operated and mounted with a suction cup?

Thank you.

I have another [Yeti cooler] for the [aft cockpit], which turns the seat and coolers into a platform.

I look forward to angling inshore and offshore--weather permitting--with this boat.

Yes; the white all-round lamp is battery-powered and suction-mounted. The suction mount is strong as long as the engine cowling isn’t soaking wet when you put it on.

I have changed the navigation lamp mount to use a GoPro mount. I am not sure how I feel about the GoPro mount when it’s not up, but I feel better about the bond.
