2004 190 NANTUCKET Gel Coat Colors

A chart [published by Boston Whaler and mentioned in a post "Gel Coat Color Use Reference from Boston Whaler" which has the chart available for downloading] suggests [by their year ranges] there are two possible Spectrum gel coat colors, 2223 and 2229, that might be appropriate [for a boat made in 2004, like] a 2004 190 NANTUCKET.

Q1: between 2223 ["Whaler White Flex" 1998 to 2004] and 2229 ["Whaler White Ash LVOC" 2004 to current], which Spectrum gel coat color is appropriate for a 2004 190 NANTUCKET?

I plan to order the gel coat resin from Spectrum.

ASIDE: I emailed Boston Whaler [to get their advice] but they [surprisingly] suggested I contact a dealer or a "user group."

Note: Boston Whaler often used two shades of off-white gel coat on their boats. One shade was used for the hull, and a second shade for the cockpit deck and consoles.

The notation “LVOC” means low or lower in volatile organic compounds. Regulation of use of VOC resins affected boat builders, who had to abandon some traditional resins being used in creating molded fiberglass boats and switch to new resins with lower VOC content.

ASIDE: apparently there has been a "sea change" at Boston Whaler in their Customer Service department, and the old-guard guys are all retired, replaced by younger people who are unfamiliar with "older" boats. Although a 2004 model sounds new to me, it is now a 20-year-old product.

Boston Whaler Customer Support does not support any model that is no longer in active production.

To make a repair to the gel coat on my 2003 190 NANTUCKET boat, I used SpectrumColor.com gel coat repair patch paste part number B#1219, Boston Whaler WHITE 98-04. The color match was perfect.

In the post above the reader is directed to get information from a very small photo image, which is impossible to read. The reader is then left to discover that the image is a link to another website where a larger image is available, and then, if the reader enlarges the larger image several times, it would finally become possible to read information on the label. This method is a particularly ugly method because the information resource is not hosted on the CONTINUOUSWAVE.COM website, and the other website could easily stop hosting the image, which would then cause all the information to be lost. Because the purpose of CONTINUOUSWAVE is to collect, organize, and archive information, I am attaching a larger image that clearly shows the information on the label that is pertinent to the response about identifying a particular designator number for the resin as used that was sold by SPECTRUM COLOR to make a repair to a 2003 190 NANTUCKET boat. See Figure 2 below.

Again the purpose is to increase the information content and increase its chance of being found when searching for information about the gel coat resin color on a 2003 190 NANTUCKET and which product sole by SPECTRUMCOLOR.COM in their gel coat paste repair kits would be a good match.
