I've been having trouble with the black, rubber bumpers located on the helm seat (i.e., which support the back rest). Not the greatest design in my opinion. That said, I put in some corrective action that fixes it in the short term and maybe longer term; time will tell. Hoping it spreads the weight over a greater surface area.
Bought a piece of 304 SS plate, created a template, then cut the pieces out and drilled a mounting hole for the bumpers. I think it turned out great in terms of looks, as it looks very "factory." Hopefully it works because I don't have the money to get the fiberglass fixed properly. Here are some pics:

Excellent and good looking solution
Well done this must help some people with a similar problem.

Nice fix! Let us know how it holds up, I may need to do that when my stops fall apart again. On my Dauntless 15, I put in some bigger ones and they've held up for a while now. Check out this modification I did to allow the seat back to be used as a leaning post (like in the newer Whalers) -

This has really helped me not be too sore after many hours of doing the "little Whaler on the big pond" dance....

Looks similar to the factory fix (i.e., on a Montauk).

Where did you get the "bigger" rubber bumpers?

I believe I just ran across them at some hardware store. Take a look at the isles with hardware and cabinet/drawer accessories.
