1962 NAUSET

Postby MrGrobengieser » Fri Jan 08, 2016 5:40 pm

Hello! I need some guidance. I have (what I believe to be) a 1962 Nauset 16. From what I understand, my great-uncle purchased it new, and the boat spent the first two decades of its existence in Niagara Falls, New York, on the Niagara river and Lake Erie. It was given to my father in 1978, and after that it was used primarily on Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. The boat has been mine since 2004, and has been used only sparingly.

My father and I took apart the NAUSET and restored it to the best of our ability in c.1998. The NAUSET is in reasonably good condition now, but I can tell it needs a little aesthetic work. I live in Manhattan and I'm going to try to get the boat down here this summer, but before then, I am hoping to have the boat made to be like-new again.

Does anyone know of a someone who specializes in this kind of work in the northeast? Ideally it is a Whaler specialist that can give the project the attention that it deserves.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Zach

If seeking a good Boston Whaler boat dealer for repair of a NAUSET, there is, quite coincidentally, a very reputable Boston Whaler boat dealer in the northeastern USA by the name of NAUSET MARINE in Orleans, Massachusetts. NAUSET MARINE was one of the first Boston Whaler dealers. They seem like a very full-service boat yard, and they may be able to offer some repair services. They should, at this point, have over 50-years of experience with Boston Whaler boats.

If your 1962 NAUSET just needs some surface-level or cosmetic restoration, you can probably find many boat yards closer to Manhattan that could buff, polish, and wax the boat back to a very like-new condition. By the way, your Boston Whaler 1962 NAUSET looks darn nice in that small image you posted, so I don't think you will have a big job on your hands with the restoration. It looks like it is 90-percent there already.
