i decided to make new doors for my 1990 Super Console. $150 of FEQ Teak and a day in my shop. I still need to sand and finish. I am not sure if I will oil or Varnish.. One more step on my Outrage 25 rehab. You have to love Classic Whalers...
Super Console Woodwork
Re: Super Console Woodwork
Wow, very nice work! Nice wood grain selection, too.
If in the sun a lot, I might would choose oil vs varnish, but varnish is prettier I think.
Thanks fit sharing...be sure and post again once finished and mounted. Love those 25s. Thanx, mav

Wow nice work!! You should make a few and sell them.
Re: Super Console Woodwork
I have not. Have you used epoxy over stain? Are you thinking West with the 207 special hardener?
Re: Super Console Woodwork
I'm new to whalers (just bought a 1982 Outrage 18) but I've been maintaining the teak on my sail boat for 40 years. My favorite is Cetol. nice color and easiest to maintain. I striped the grey doors off the whaler sanded them then followed with several coats of Cetol. Very satisfied.
Re: Super Console Woodwork
After a bit of research this weekend and having used varnish and Cetol over the past 30 years, I think I am going to give Epifanes Wood Finish a try. It appears closer in look to varnish than Cetol and less work than varnish. Has anyone used it?
"Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss varnish works especially well on Teak wood. No sanding between coats is required. This is the perfect alternative to traditional varnish as it eliminates all that sanding and repetitive care. Phenolic based resins, tung oil, and UV inhibitors build quickly for a high gloss finish with long lasting beauty on teak and other fine hard woods. Formulated for extraordinary protection, even in tropical climates, Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss is also recommended as a sealer and filler for wood."
Best,
Stephen
