I have a classic 17 which currently has a 90hp 2 stroke Tohatsu, I have yet to run it as its been a winter project and the motor seems fine however its been my plan to repower with a new motor for economical and (hopefully) trouble free boating for me and the family.
As I have two young children and boat in the sea in the UK the conditions are often pretty choppy and top speed isn't really a concern, the Merc 60hp is appealing due to being around $2000 cheaper than the F70 yam and being lightweight, however does anyone run one of these motors and if so what are their thoughts?

Note my comments don't apply since you don't want speed.
Cheers.

Those 2 Stroke Tohatsus are great engines. If compression is good, you could clean the carbs, service the water pump and lower unit, change spark plugs, and have a very reliable engine.
