Here are the details of my boat, engine, and propeller:
--1988 Montauk [17]
--E-TEC 90 [described mounting in unclear fashion; please tell us how many units of 0.75-inch or one-hole the engine is mounted from the lowest possible position; see the article on ENGINE MOUNTING HEIGHT for more details.]
--Stiletto 13-1/4 x 15
[The engine speed] seems like I may be a bit shy of the target; WOT is 5,000-RPM.
[The boat speed] with one person, a few gallons of fuel, and optimal trim is 34-nautical-miles-per-hour.
Am I running the right propeller? Do I have the right set-up?

I have a Montauk 17. Is that the same as what you call a MONTAUK 17? I'm familiar with "Montauk" from the Boston Whaler official company website.
Also, the link you provided references a "17-Montauk"-- is that the same thing?
This would all be so much easier for me to understand if it was all standardized. As it is, I fear I am hopelessly lost.

I have a 2001 17 montauk with 90 hp mercury with an aluminum 19 pitch propeller and I top out at 40 mph which calculates out to the same as 34 nautical miles per hour. Are you sure the is nautical miles per hour or is it miles per hour? big difference. If your are topping out at 34 knots I would say that is pretty dang good! Although a 15 pitch propeller seems very low for this application.
