Dauntless 13 Re-power

Hello. [I am] considering a re-power for my 1997 DAUNTLESS13 that currently has an Evinrude 40-HP. Newer outboard engines seem quite a bit heavier [and] 210-lbs to 240-lbs.
The E-TEC 30 weighs 170-lbs. Would the E-TEC 30 be a good choice?

I don't think the E-TEC 30 is a good choice for the DAUNTLESS 13. It is mostly used with tiller steering. A 20-inch-shaft remote steering model weighs 181-lbs. I would seriously consider moving to the larger 40 to 60-HP engines, at 240-lbs.

I had a [1997] Dauntless with a HONDA 40-HP for eight years. It would do about 32-MPH when lightly loaded, and [the DAUNTLESS and HONDA were] a great combination. Even better would be the HONDA 50-HP, which I think is the same weight, about 214-lbs, and also the maximum horsepower rating for the boat. I think [the HONDA 50] may be one of the lightest four-stroke-power-cycle 50-HP engines.

A Yamaha 50 is about 243[-lbs]; the 40 [is] 215[-lbs]. Perhaps I should set a 40[-lbs] plate on top of the existing 1998 40-HP and see how she sits.
