What propeller is best for a 1985 Yamaha 90 on a 1982 MONTAUK 17?
What is the approximate top speed with a 1985 Yamaha 90?
ASIDE ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TOPIC:
Should a 1982 Montauk 17 have a clamshell over the anchor locker drain tube? It doesn't appear that this boat has ever had one in place.

Re: Performance with different engines and unknown propellers
[Gave some speed information for a different engine using unknown propellers.]
Re: Finding Evidence of a drain; installing a drain
For a boat that originally had a clamshell cover over the drain of the anchor locker, it would be a reasonable expectation that there would be some evidence of that drain being installed in the form of leftover holes from fasteners that held the drain in place, and the only exception to that might be if the drain were removed, the holes repaired, and those repairs were done at an expert level.
On the other hand, if there is no evidence of a drain having been installed at time of manufacture, and if a drain is now desired, installation of drain will not be particularly difficult to accomplish. If you decide to install a drain and need more advice, start a thread in REPAIRS and MODIFICATIONS.
This thread will continue to discuss propeller selection for the boat under discussion. Readers who feel that the drain topic has not been sufficiently covered, please start a separate thread in REPAIRS and MODIFICATIONS to discuss the drain. If a survey of all MONTAUK owners with regard to the presence of lack of a drain in desired, please use THE GAM.

Phil's advice sounds good to me. Phil seems to have collected and organized a lot of information about specific Boston Whaler models, specific outboard engines, and specific propeller choices.
