I did a speed run [using my 1984 OUTRAGE 25 with twin 150-HP Mercury FOURSTROKE engines] on the lake earlier this week. I have the same 17-pitch REVOLUTION4 propellers as were on my prior Optimax 150-HP twin engine. The gearing is slightly lower at 1.92:1 on the FOURSTROKE engines compared to 1.8:1 on the OptiMax engine. Top speed is the same [with the FOURSTROKE engines] as the Optimax engines.
Due to the radar arch and radar with wind drag some top speed is lost.
[An engine speed of 5,800-RPM] is right at upper end of the [recommended] RPM range.
On the boat there were 50-gallons of fuel (in a 140-gallon capacity tank) and just me.
The data shown are transferred to the Simrad NSS Evo2 by Mercury VesselView Link.
These [Mercury 150-HP FOURSTROKE engines] are nice, strong engines. As a four-cylinder four-stroke-power-cycle they are not smooth at idle [as some other engine] but otherwise [I have] zero complaints.
SOG = 46.4
RPM PORT = 5783
RPM STARBOARD = 5873
GPH PORT = 13.64
GPH STARBOARD = 13.58
