The mega-yacht Astral was moored to the Coal Dock on a 1995 passage through Little Current. The probable reason for that was lack of sufficient water at the town dock to permit her to apporoach. There is about 8 feet of water at dockside, but she draws more than that!
A few days later, as we returned to Little Current from the west, we passed close abeam with her as she was leaving. Although the angle of this photograph foreshortens her hull, it does show the incredible height of her rig! It must be over one hundred feet tall.
Confined to the narrow channel, we passed Astral close abeam,
gawking at her incredible size. Her true
dimensions become apparent in this photograph.
Here, she overtakes a 30-footer, which appears the
size of a dingy compared to Astral.
