Hello all again, I recently watched "Striking Distance," 1993, with Bruce Willis for a second time and couldn't recall any mention of the movie within this site. One of his co-actors is, I believe, a 27 Guardian. There is also a chase scene with another smaller Guardian(18?) in the end. Enjoy. If redundant, sorry. Thanks everyone. Chap |

I've seen the movie and immediately wanted the boat. However, it's been sometime since I've seen it, and can't remember if it was a 25 or 27. Nonetheless, a great boat. |

Sorry for the previos post I forgot my password and it was a test. Anyhow the boats are a 27 and a 18. Both are currently located in Barnstable Harbor Massachusetts. The 27, nicknamed the "gunboat" is a Marina workhorse, towboat etc. and the 18 is privatly owned. |

Contender: I was thinking the movie took place in Pittsburgh! Is that correct? If so, did the boats move there just for filming? |

I do not know where the film was filmed. I think you are correct though. The boats were new for the filming. At the risk of gossiping, and since I do not know the whole truth, do not hold me to the following statement. From what I understand. Fireman the Owner of Reebok and Whaler, at the time. Had friends in Barnstable mass. who wanted the whalers. From what I also understand they got them for a steal. The movie makers already paid for them for the movie and I guess they had no more use for them. So off they went. |

The movie was filmed in Pittsburgh and I lived only a few miles from where the boats were docked! Everytime I watch that movie I get gooosebumps-my hometown and 2 awsome Whalers! No Euro-Transoms here, the real McCoys! One of my friends acctually saw Bruce Willis and his son at Kennywood, an amusement park near PGH. and they said he was a nice guy? Regards-Jack Graner. |

We did talk about the film once in a thread about the movie Perfect Storm last fall. Everyone agreed the turbine engine sounds dubbed over the outboards were really cheesy! The thread is worth looking for because LHG has a nice tale about his Whaler's 15 minutes of fame. --Brian |

That was Pittsburgh's finest hour: Beautiful EDGEWATER FLORIDA Whalers running up and down the river, their WHITE gelcoat and MANLY RUB RAILS gleaming. I drank many a Rolling Rock (no whimpy Amstel Light Imports for me) watching them make that movie. If you look carefully you can see me in one scene.. Renarg Kcaj |

John, I am as miffed as anyone about this guy that has my log-in name backwards, and he doesn`t seem to care for me too(that`s a long list, he-he!). You were right about the Bazzaro part, believe me that isn`t me with 2 log-in names, I don`t have a clue who this guy is? Also, who ever you are, even though I prefer Amstel Light(I have only had a few in my lifetime), I drink Milwauki`s Best Light(it`s good and I can afford it), it`s acctually better than Iron Shitty beer-Yuck! You can like new Whalers all you want, I can dig it, Old-New that`s what the Forum is all about-different tastes in Whalers. Regards-Jack Graner. |

Have you noticed us guys that are talking about this Saga, are all from the snow and cold climates! We better thaw soon or we are going go nuts! Let`s hope for some Whalering soon! Regards-Jack Graner. P.S. Can`t be The Whalerguy, he`s out somewhere paying cash for Freshwater only Whalers! |

Tom- It's hard to get used to manipulating words in the Bizarro language!! (Although I did like the ring of Renrag better; reminded me of "...redrum, redrum..." from "The Shining", I think.) It *has* been a long winter... |
