Author Topic:   2002 Apostle Islands Rendezvous

Hello all.
At the 2001 Door County rendezvous, it was decided that I should organize a rendezvous in the Apostle Islands.
Although it is still early, I have created a simple web page to provide information as it becomes available regarding this rendezvous.
I will be updating it with lodging, and other information as it becomes available and as I have time.
The date was chosen based on the response of the Door County rendezvous attendees. If I remember right, Brian was going to plan another DC rendezvous for the same weekend in 02 and I would pick a later weekend for Bayfield.
If this date really doesn't work for alot of would-be attendees, it can be changed. Bayfield is a popular summertime destination, much more so than Sister Bay, so the earlier we make plans, the better.

We have twice been to Bayfield and we just love the place!
The Apostle Islands offer plenty of boating opportunities. (See http://continuouswave.com/sail-logs/up1998/graphics/apostleChart.jpeg )
It is about 1,600 miles round-trip for us to get there. I hope we can work this into our plans this summer.

I'll keep tabs on your site, and here. Don't know how things will shake out, but definitely interested. After all, Superior is on my dog's list of "must swim" waters.

I suppose with L. Michigan between us, it really adds the miles.
I thought my trip to Sister Bay was a long one.

Hi Dave,
I was wondering when someone would organize a trip to the Apostles. I used to go every year to the Bayfield Applefest, haven't been there in years. I haven't checked your website yet so I don't know what the dates are, but I hope to make it with the family.
I see you live in St. Paul, I live in the Highland Park area.

I've come up with a itinerary and posted to the Rendezvous site.
This is a preliminary itinerary, and by no means carved in stone. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Great idea! The Apostles have been a place we have been anxious to get to and this is just the excuse we need. We'll keep an eye on the web site and are looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Glad to see you're back! I was wondering what happened to you two.
Are you planning on going back to Sister Bay this year? We are, but I don't know when. We'll also be up in Bayfield several times if all works out okay.
Spread the word, this one should be fun.
