Re: Anchor hatch fiberglass repair
I prefer to use polyester resin, the layup kind for this project. Your final layer will be covered to fully cure. Cut balsa wood the size of the core you took out, it is easier to cut straight lines in your part and the new core. Layup fiberglass cloth after you have glued the new core pieces. After...

What is inside of fuel tank drain tube
What the inside of the fuel tank cavity drain tube on a 1998 Outrage 17 looks like. Viewing from inside the tank leading into the fish locker. https://youtu.be/rvm-s6kzmUM [EDIT] The video was edited from 6 mins to just over 2 mins long, it provides a view into the drain tube and the original constr...

Fuel and foam over a long period is not a good situation to be with.

I would route the transducer cable over the transom or something like the picture below.

Re: Removing Fuel Tank Bracket
JRP, I thought of changing the shape and or size of the new tank but decided to keep it original. The 1/4" rubber strips on the bottom should provide adequate airflow underneath the fuel tank to keep it dry. I have to be careful when I pour the 4lbs foam to ensure that none of it drips to the b...

Re: Outrage 190 console courtesy lights
Thanks for the link Phil, I did not think of the parts diagram.
I could decipher the location of the courtesy lights on the bottom of the console but could not figure out what sort of light fixture it is. My inquisitiveness is to see if I can incorporate those lights on my 98 Outrage 17 console.

Outrage 190 Console Courtesy Lights
Has anyone pictures that show how and where the original courtesy lights are installed on the console of the 190 Outrage?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Removing Fuel Tank Bracket
The trick was the heat gun to release the brackets. This time, after reading the 3M specs for 4200 sealant, I heated the brackets aggressively on high for 60-90 seconds. Then a little leverage with a crowbar and the brackets pop out very cleanly. Thanks for all your tips and support. Fuel tank remov...

Re: Removing Fuel Tank Bracket
JRP--the fuel tank developed a leak; there was fuel in the stern fish locker. The top of the fuel tank is in perfect condition, which apparently does not provide a true condition assessment. :-) Re your curiosity about the model: 1998 Boston Whaler Outrage 17 . Thank you for the feedback, everything...

Re: Removing Fuel Tank Bracket
I am pretty sure it is 3M4200, I can't imagine that Boston Whaler would use 3M5200 on a serviceable part. It was soft enough to cut with a razor blade where it had oozed out a bit. Only two screws were holding this bracket, so no more fasteners. The sealant isn't that much; the bracket is very flat ...

Removing Fuel Tank Bracket
I tried heating the aluminum angle bracket [that is holding down the fuel tank] to take it off, but it does not budge at all. I have tried sliding a putty knife wherever it will fit between the tank and bracket, but no movement. Are there any tips to getting these brackets off? They seem to have som...
