1967 13-footer Transom Replacement
The transom of 1967 13-footer will need replacing, and I have come to terms with that. Cracks have appeared in the corners of the transom where it meets the gunwales and also very small cracks that are stained brown have appeared in the corners of the V-notch area where the reinforcing plywood is lo...

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
I believe the brand name [of the cleaning fluid I used was] "Northwest Enterprises." I purchased it through Amazon. I didn't want to use any flammable solvents in my cheap ultrasonic machine so this cleaning fluid was attractive in that it seems to be some kind of detergent. I read that bo...

jimh wrote:What solvent did you use in the ultrasonic cleaner to solve this problem?
I used [a product whose label just identifies it as "ultrasonic cleaning solution"] mixed with distilled water in the prescribed ratio.

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
UPDATE
After replacing all the old fuel hoses on the boat and still having the Honda BF25 engine run poorly, I used an ultrasonic cleaner to clean all the carburetors. The problem with Honda BF25 engine running poorly is completely solved. The Honda BF25 now runs like a sewing machine.

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
The fuel tank and hose from the fuel tank to the outboard are only about a year old and there is a filter in between them and the carburetors so I feel like that would be a less likely source of the debris. The hoses distributing the fuel to the fuel pump and the carburetor are a matte gray and look...

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
in Figure 3 of the bowl with the yellow stuff, do the other bowls exhibit the same yellow stuff? All the other carburetor bowls did indeed have the same yellow debris inside them, though maybe not quite as much as the carburetor on cylinder 2. Q5: are the carburetors able to be swapped? The carbure...

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
I disassembled the carburetor from cylinder-2. The cause of [the engine running poorly] was immediately apparent.
Q3: where did the yellow debris seen in Figure 3 come from?

Re: Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
Thanks for the suggestions. I bought the LISLE in-line spark tester. The number-2 cylinder seemed to have strong and [continual] spark. I also [substituted] an ignition coil and wire (from another engine I have access to). The HONDA BF25 still ran exactly the same as before. The spark plug from cyli...

Re: HondaBF25 Runs Poorly
Later on March 10, 2024, I started the HONDA BF25 it in the backyard and it ran well for five minutes, then it reverted to running on two cylinders. I removed the spark plugs and inspected them, The spark plugs from cylinders one and three looked normal. The spark plug from cylinder two was back and...

Honda BF25 Runs Poorly
I've been having trouble with the carburetors on the HONDA BF25 engine on my 13-footer. In February 2024 I noticed the motor was hesitating when I was applying throttle. While returning to the harbor the HONDA BF25 was idling on two cylinders and shaking. I use the boat almost every week, and the ca...

Re: 1967 13-footer Bow Eye Repair
IMPORTANT in this repair. When filling in the void made by the methods described above, it is a good idea to place a plastic drinking straw to provide a pilot hole to follow when re-drilling the hole for the bow eye. I was actually really worried about drilling the hole straight, I think you saved ...

1967 13-footer Bow Eye Repair
I recently acquired a 1967 13-footer with a damaged bow eye fitting. The bow eye had been ripped through the hull. This damage was then poorly repaired.
Give me suggestions on how to properly repair the damaged hull and replace the bow eye
