CONTINUOUSWAVE

I have reviewed the reference material here and haven't figured this out; I thought someone might have some insight.

Recently my agency (county Emergency Management) purchased a surplus Guardian 19, and I'm a little perplexed by the HIN. It is a 1995 and the MIC is BWG, which is the part I'm having trouble with. I've got all kinds of interesting history on it (purchased by NOAA, and attached to the NOAA Ship Rude), but the MIC obviously belongs to a different company. Additionally, the serial number doesn't seem to follow the range for a 19'. Am I just missing something, or is this maybe an odd error?
I haven't contacted BW yet, by the way.

That's not an original HIN plate. Someone made an error when they made that plate. If Boston Whaler made that plate the mounting holes would be symmetrical about centerline. And it would not say "BOSTON WHALER" in serif typeface. And they would not have cracked the gel coat when making the pilot hole for the fasteners. And they would have used better quality stainless steel fasteners.


That's the simplest explanation.

Maybe Boston Whaler will have a more complex answer.

That makes perfect sense now. Without knowing Boston Whaler's preference for sans (I didn't search HIN tag images until a few minutes ago), the fasteners and their position should have been more obvious to me. I'll just add this to the list of questionable things the previous agencies did to this boat and motor.
