I am honored to announce my return to the small, but spunky, group of owners who care for an often overlooked model, the Outrage 17. While overshadowed by the classic Montauk and the world famous Outrage 18, this model has the traits of both and some unique to herself.
As some of you know I owned a 1991 Outrage 17 for 7 years but sold it. Huge mistake, as any die hard whaler owner knows.
I gathered up my resolve to correct my poor judgement and acquired a 1992 Outrage 17 over New Years weekend. She was 450 miles away in VA but neither snow in WVA or cold or wind could stop me.
While I have great ideas for her, I am going to try to go slow and methodical and wring every ounce of joy in cleaning her up and providing some TLC.
Let the fun begin.

Attaboy Phil. Getting harder and harder to replace the classics once they are sold.

Excellent news. There is a lot of fun to be gotten from a smaller and easily trailered boat.
Re: Back in the Outrage 17 club
Nice! Does it have the baitwell in front of the splashwell?
I have seen some with storage there and some with the baitwell.
Good Luck with the 17 Outrage

Yes, this model has a molded in baitwell forward of the splashwell.
It comes with a tub insert and without plumbing from the factory. The pumps and plumbing is an option. My boat does not have the well plumbed and will be used for storage and temporary livewell if fish are ever caught.
I hope to have photos this weekend.

Re: Back in the Outrage 17 club
As many of you may recall, I have a [1994] 19 Outrage II model that has been without power for three or four years. Many have asked why I keep it, and some neighbors have offered to buy it as-is. The boat is impeccable with many options and has been cared for like a child for [nore than] 20-years. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it, and the re-power is coming soon. Congrats on finding the 1990's version of fantastic Outrage's

Hi Phil, Welcome back to the club.
Sounds like you and I have nearly identical models. Mine is a 1992 also. It is powered by a 115 E-tec and has the rear live well. I removed the front rail to add a mount for a trolling motor using only holes for the front cleat.
Look forward to communicating in the future. Happy Whalin'!

Re: Back in the Outrage 17 club
With the temperature raised from 32 to 65, I jumped on lowering the console rail and slip the boat into the garage. Never had one for a boat before so its a bit of a new experience for me.
Now I can work on her whenever I please. I plan to jack her up and pull the trailer out. The trailer is a bit of a disaster. It's all good.
