CONTINUOUSWAVE

Previously I had a 13 Super Sport Whaler and would seldom venture out past jetty because of rougher water. Now I am choosing between a 1986 13 Super Sport or a 2002 13 Sport model and hoping to gain better handling in rougher water with the Sport model. Have spent most time in Intercoastal for that reason. Visually, the Sport model appears to have a much deeper hull. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions? Thanks.

While the 130 Sport (model naming changed ~ 2002) is an improvement, it will not be significant.

What really makes a difference is LOA and deadrise. A 13' is still a 13'.

Try finding one of the many 17' models. My Montauk 17 beat my brothers 13' Sport every day.

Thanks Phil - I had a 17' for years on the west coast when I was younger - now at 85 years old I feel that the 17' is too much to handle at the ramp. Thanks for the suggestion.

The newer sport at 600lbs or so is a much better improvement over the classic but Phil is right. Bud had one with a 30hp, needs more power but Ok with light load.
