I just purchased a 1989 Outrage that is in average shape.

On August 15 or 16, 2020, I took out the boats for a brief ride. I forgot to remove the rear drain plug in the sump on the starboard side of the deck—not the splash well— after loading the boat. 0n the trailer.

On August 17, 2020, a day or two loafer, I noticed 4-inches of water in the sump. [There had been] no rain.

Could water from the hull find its way into this sump?

The sump pump did not turn on because the battery switch was off.

There is some water in the rigging tunnel and possibly the tank cavity. It is common. Your pump should come on as the pump should be hard wired even if batteries are off. That is not how they did it back then, mine is on a switch.

When asking for advice give the year, model, and length of the boat. An “Outrage” could be 17 to 27 feet long.
