Hello all,
I am new to the forums and new to Boston Whalers. I came across the 13's when I was looking for a light boat to be able to tow. I have been scouring the internet for a while looking for a good buy, and came across this on FB.

I was wondering if I could get the opinion of some more seasoned BW owners. Any thoughts on this boat? My main concern is the 50hp engine. It is the two stroke, so it clocks in just over 200lbs. There is a prop, apparently it was just off for the pictures. From what I have read the power cap is 40 hp, but the seller says it handles the 50 well, but what else would he say, really. I like the bench seat, back rest, and the center console is nice as well.

One question I want to ask is whether it is possible to add another thwart seat in front of the center console. Occasionally I will want to have 4 people on the boat. I would also be considering adding a bow, or side rails for some added hand holds.

Although highly modified with the fiberglass center console and other changes it and the trailer appears to be in excellent condition. It looks like it may have been painted. I prefer the other one next to it in the next to last photo in the Facebook ad is it looks more original.

I would not worry about having a fifty HP engine on the boat. The engine increases the value but the modifications and repaint reduce it. Values are local so I have no idea what is reasonable where you are. I believe the boat is worth a bit over $5,000 depending on condition which is unknown based on the photos.

I would not buy any boat without a sea trial. A sea trial will show you if the boat handles well with the extra 10 HP and if the console suits you.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I would always ask to take her out before buying. It does look really clean and well maintained overall. I like the center console I think and really like the backrest, I just wish there was an additional thwart seat. I could potentially fab one out of something if I bought it.

Whaler values in my area are SUPER varied. I have seen classic whalers in similar conditions vary thousands on the price.
