I'm looking for a lifting harness diagram for the classic 15-foot hull. I have seen the diagrams for the 13-foot and 17-foot hulls on this site, but can't seem to locate one for the 15-footer Where might one be found?

I believe LEGO' is referring to two drawings contributed by W. Fontaine which are available from the REFERENCE section page Drawings of Boston Whaler Components Available Online.

I don't know of a drawing for a lifting harness that is specific to the 15-foot hull. Perhaps one could use the two other drawings and perhaps scale them to a 15-foot hull.

Yes Jim, you are correct on all accounts.

For my use I could certainly interpolate the values for loads and dimensions of the 13-foot and 17-foot hulls and get it close enough I suspect - the geometry of these three hulls is certainly similar, so I think it would be close.

My intent is just to lift the hull temporarily from my garage ceiling (yes, I will reinforce it accordingly) while I remove the trailer from underneath it and lower it down on keel blocks/stands. I can certainly get the trailer out with jacks/blocks without the harness; I do however like the lateral stability the harness would provide, so even if I do raise it with jacks, I may still rig up a harness of sorts in order to prevent any "rolling" side to side. This I could probably even do with ratchet straps to be honest as they would not be holding much/if any weight once the boat is down.

Depending on the layout of the ceiling joists, you may consider using two straps, one for the bow, one for the stern. For the stern, use separate straps from the eyes to a central, vertical strap.

May be easier, less math and more control.

Phil, I was actually considering using THREE straps. One to each of the stern eyes, and one to the bow. This would give me the most flexibility with leveling AND distribute the load even further. The bow strap will require some engineering as it would currently interfere with the operation of the garage door, but I can figure something out here. If it works out, I could even use this to force the hull to "list" in order to get to the bottom for cleaning, etc.

I would tie the transom to the wall and drive the trailer out from under it.
