I'm new user on the forum, I live in Rhode Island, and I'm looking at a 18-foot Boston Whaler for my first boat, perhaps a 180 VENTURA or a 180 DAUNTLESS . I plan on using the boat in Narragansett and in Salt Ponds.

Give me some comments about the 180 VENTURA or 180 DAUNTLESS for my use[--or other suitable Boston Whaler boats.]

Do you want a dual console or center console?

If you're looking for a center console, I'd look at all the 17-foot to 19-foot Dauntless, Montauk, and Outrage models.

I owned a 1999 Dauntless 18 for 10 years. It is a great boat that is still being used today. It has some quirks but it is very roomy with a lot of storage and rides well for an eighteen foot boat.

I agree with roundle1979. Those are good models for Narragansett. As you know, Narry can be like a pond--or ferocious.

We used to travel from Fall River to New Port in a 17 Nauset many times. Fantastic boating but pick your days.

The newer hulls with sharper entry should be fine.

ASIDE: We used to keep our [c.1970] 21 Outrage in Narragansett Bay. That hull has a [rounded bottom]. It could get a little bouncy, especially on weekends with the larger powerboats putting up some ferocious wakes.
