I’m almost done restoring my 1972 OUTRAGE 21 Ribside that had been damaged in a storm 15 years ago. I’m still in need of a folding stern navigation lamp that attaches to the engine well railing. I was hoping someone might have an old 21-footer that I might be able to get this part from. Or perhaps know where I could find one?

I do not recall a stern light as you described being original to Boston Whaler.

There are several after-market vendors that sell two-part stern lights. As for rail mounting, that may be difficult to source.

The OEM stern light can be sourced (manufactured by Perko with a modern Fresnel lens) but is mounted to the aft quarter of the gunwale cap.

There is a good picture of the 1972 Outrage 21 Ribside that shows the navigation lamp in the 1972 Boston Whaler factory brochure, which can be seen in Tom Clark's Boston Whaler Catalog Collection CD.

Here is a portion of an illustration from the 1972 Boston Whaler catalog that shows a navigation lamp attached to a railing at the transom of an OUTRAGE 21 early model with ribbed sides.



Whether the image resolution is sufficient to provide the needed information is not able to be judged by me.

ASIDE: Apparently in 1972 those two guys never heard about Melanoma Cancer from exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the Sun.
