I'm contemplating replacing my roller trailer for my 20 foot Revenge 1988. I've read up on the requirements in the posts here and in the information section. I'd like to know what kind of trailer other Revenge owners have so I can start looking for a specific model and type on Kijiji. My trailer works fine but it appears my tongue weight is 575 lbs and that is above my trucks rating. I have a 98 Tahoe two door and it sags to the point the trailer beam actually scrapes the ground now when launching and loading. The suspension in the truck is up to factory specs. My trailer only has a single axle and I don't want to move it forward, to adjust the tongue weight, as I have the 200 Merc and the 15 kicker on the back including two batteris and three down riggers. I'm leaning towards a dual axle trailer but not sure of a make or model or type. Thanks

When I had a REVENGE 20 it was loaded on a tandem axle trailer. The boat was originally fitted-out on the West Coast, so the trailer was made by PACIFIC TRAILERS.

If I were in the market for a new trailer, I would look at an E-Z-LOADER Adjustable trailer with tandem-axles with bunks. These are available in a many configurations. The first dimension to establish is the length; for a REVENGE 20 you could use either their 17-20 series, which have 4000-lbs rating, or the larger 19-22 series, which have 5200-lbs ratings.

The trailer width will probably be either 96-inches or 102-inches, depending on model.

The trailer should be configured with bunks, but I would add the option of a forward keel-roller, and possible a second keel roller on another cross member. Other options are numerous:

--spring suspension or torsion axle

--spare tire carrier

--loading guides

--side bunks

--steel or aluminum wheels

--tire sizes

--brake systems; brake flush kits

--hitch couplers

It is complicated to specify the trailer. I recommend you work closely with the manufacturer to be sure you get what you want.

The manufacture of trailers is often a regional industry, and in your region there may be some local fabricators. There are a few trailer-brands that have good national distribution. One advantage of buying a nationally-distributed trailer brand is there usually will be parts available if needed in most locations.

You should have brakes on the trailer, and in some states it will be mandatory. The brake system can range from rather simple to very complex and expensive. If you will be always launching in saltwater, the brake system can be a maintenance problem unless only the very best, most corrosion-resistant brake components are used; they are expensive.

Thanks jimh. I read through that post on the tongue weight and I got a head ache. I was hoping to find a used on Kijiji as funds are tight now because of multiple fishing related upgrades to the boat. I will take a look at those [E-Z-LOADER] trailers and try to find a local version.
