Q1: what problems are likely to occur in solo trailering, launching, and retrieving a 190 MONTAUK [compared to a MONTAUK 17]?

Q2: To any reader with experience in solo trailering, launching, and retrieving a 190 MONTAUK, what insights have you learned?

BACKSTORY
I am am a long-time Boston Whaler owner and have just sold my MONTAUK 17 after owning it for 17 years. I primarily have launched my boat by myself with never a problem. I am may upgrade to a late model 190 MONTAUK.

We sold our Dauntless 16 to make room for a 190 Montauk. The differences in launching and retrieving were considerable. The 190 has a lot more windage so it is far more affected by side winds and that takes a little adjustment. It is also much heavier so last minute physical adjustment to center the boat on the trailer requires more strength. Ramp construction will dictate how you compensate for more weight and windage. When launching you may want to secure a line to an aft cleat on the windward side tied to the pier or, as was my practice, place a pair of fenders on the other side. It is possible to retrieve the boat by driving it onto the trailer if you are able to place the trailer close enough to step onto the pier from the boat and continue retrieving with the winch. My trailer was equipped with tall guide poles to help with centering. I have seen well placed side bunks used to ensure centering. Getting off the trailer over the bow to complete the job was not easy for me and if no one is around the ramp it can be dangerous.

Solo launching and retrieving was not something I enjoyed, possibly because I didn't do it often enough to become n expert. If you are already to do this it shouldn't take long to become used to the 190.
