2004 190 NANTUCKET Through-hull Fittings and Hole Sizes

Postby islavov » Tue Oct 29, 2024 3:14 pm

Q1: what is the actual opening [size of hole] on the transom of a 2004 190 NANTUCKET at location #4 in Figure 1 below?

Q2: what are the OEM specifications for the through-hull fitting that is used on a 2004 190 NANTUCKET at location #4 in Figure 1 below?

BACKSTORY
I am replacing all through-hull fittings. I am trying to stay away from plastics. I need to specifications so i can order replacements.

The 2004 and 2005 drawings that I find for Nantucket 190 do not have such a drawing as [seen in Figure 1]. That means I cannot see what the specifications are for [the through-hull fitting that is used at location] #4 [or the hole size at location #4.

I have not [removed] the old fitting, and I know that [removing the old fitting] will give probably give me the answers.

You should remove the OEM fitting at location #4 and deduce the hole size and dimensions of the fitting from the OEM fitting. The reasons to do this are clear:
  • because you plan to replace the fitting at location #4, you will eventually need to remove it; and
  • actually removing the fitting at location #4 and measuring its dimensions will give you the information that is specific to your boat.
The notion that some other reader might offer you information and that information would be EXACTLY applicable to your particular boat is difficult to assess; Boston Whaler might have made a change in the fitting during the production years of the 190 NANTUCKET boat. I wouldn't rely on proffered dimensions that come from another boat, even if similar name, model, length, and production epoch.
