Fitting Bimini Top to Stow Forward

Postby pagraham » Sat Jun 15, 2024 7:06 pm

Q1: how can a Bimini top be rigged to fold and stow forward on a 1987 Outrage 20?

I believe to stow a folded Bimini top forward the top frame would need to mount on a sliding mount on a long slide.

If not mounted on a slide, then the frame would need to be very tall with very long legs.

Mount the main hinge base for a Bimini top on a slide to allow the top to be moved to a better position for storage when the frame is folded down to horizontal.

Note that MOST Bimini Tops are not folded down when not in use; they are just left folded and the frame upright. The frame is usually supported in the upright position with a fixed rear railing support. The Bimini top is usually only lowered when the boat is going to be towed on the highway or a cover will be put on the cockpit.
