When reporting performance data, the following template may be useful in composing the report:

BOAT INFORMATION:

• Maximum engine speed ROM

Example: 2010 E-TEC 225-HP, 25-inch-shaft, 1.845:1 gear ratio, mounted one-hole-up, E225DPXISE, Optimum WOT engine speed 5500 to 5700-RPM, 5800-RPM maximum.

PROPELLER INFORMATION:

• Brand
• Model

INSTRUMENTATION:

• Engine speed measurement source, unit of speed used, and estimated resolution
• Boat speed measurement source for RPM and estimated resolution.

Example: Engine speed from digital tachometer with data directly from engine via NMEA-2000 ±50-RPM; boat speed from GNSS receiver with ± 0.5-MPH.

• boat speed in specific units where MPH in statute miles per hour in highly preferred and units in nautical miles per hours is an discouraged alternative

Any observations that could affect the results, such as amount of fuel on board, number of people, amount of gear, canvas stowed or deployed, etc.
