Looking for the difference in freeboard between these boats - I know I was just on Outre two weekends ago, but I failed to notice and am curious - how much higher are the gunwales from the inside deck to the top of the gunwales on these boats? Thanks! (yes, I'm up to something, but its a suprise for next year's Rendezvous). Dave

You shook your Christmas presents, didn't you? Do you know the answer to the original question? Thanks.

You're a bit late, panther. He just had a new one installed on his 150 Merc a couple of weeks ago. A bad battery caused it to burn out. |

What year whalers? It's 24" on the 210, probably around 21-22 on the dauntless and they don't make a 25 anymore. Get specific. |

Hmmm....well, I asked about the 18, 22 and 25.They don't make the 18 anymore, so that limits the year to 1990 or older, eh? They don't make the 22 either....or the 25. Come on Panther, I've never picked on you. Leave my thread alone. I'm on a Classic Whaler Website and I'm not in the "post classic" forum, so take it that I'm talking about a classic Outrage. But just for shits and giggles, let's say a 1986 model for each hull. Dave |

You're curious yellow, all right...Dave- Outrage 22 - all years: Freeboard (which I have understood to be the vertical dimension from the surface of the water to the gunwale deck) is 24-25 inches pretty much from the transom to the center console; increases from there. Sole to gunwale deck (I don't know what the correct term is for this dimension; if it is "freeboard", then the dimension above must correctly be called something else.) is about 19" at the splashwell and about 20" at the console. Add 1" to both the above sets of dimensions if accounting for the coaming. John |

So what's up, Dave?...not thinking of betraying sweet Gambler with another so soon after the nuptials, I hope.Perhaps the word for the measurement you're looking for is 'bulwarks'--that portion of the boat on the sides between the deck and the gunwales. And yeah, freeboard is the distance between the waterline when the boat is afloat and the gunwales...thus freeboard often changes as one goes forward or aft, but bulwarks height generally remains the same, following/paralleling the curve of the deck...I think. ...and 18' Outrage measures approximately 18 inches at the console and 17 3/4 inches at the front of the splashwell. (just to round out the thread)Thanks everyone for your help...sounds like the boats get proportionately "deeper" with each successive size increase, chich makes sense. I appreciate your input. Dave
