1980 15 Custom Center Console with 70-HP

Postby wcollins4141 » Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:16 pm

In 2019 I redid a 1980 15-foot hull in my garage, making a custom 15-foot center console boat. It was a fun project. I removed water in the foam interior and some rot in the deck. I use a composite material made by COOSA COMPOSITES and a high-density foam. I am moderately positive I got the hull dry.

The 1980 SPORT 15 is powered by a 70-HP four-stroke-power-cycle engine. Top boat speed is 45-MPH. The engine is mounted on a jack plate. Five propellers were tested before I felt the boat was dialed-in. This little SPORT 15 boat really performs.

With your setup with console [a top boat speed of] 45-MPH from 70-HP is moderately good. The console adds a little drag but the jack plate probably makes up for it.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
